The Island
Koh Mak is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand, loved for its unspoiled natural environment, quiet peaceful atmosphere, and a relaxed pace of life that is reminiscent of Koh Samui or Phuket 40 years ago.
There are only 800 permanent residents living on Koh Mak’s 16 square kilometers, and very few cars. There are plenty of things to do on the island, but the most popular is simply relaxing, slowing right down, taking in the natural beauty of the beaches, sea and surrounding islands, and soaking up the ambience.
The island is family friendly – almost no traffic and none of the "beer bars" that are a problem in some other top Thai destinations. The island does not allow jet-skis. If you are looking for tranquility, you will find it on Koh Mak.
Activities include scuba diving and snorkeling – there are three dive shops on the island. You can get a Thai massage on the beach or at one of the shops in the village, learn Thai Boxing/Muay Thai, visit the Koh Mak Museum and discover the history of the island, or take a Thai cooking class. There are regular boat services to the mainland and also the neighbouring islands of Koh Chang, Koh Kuut, and Koh Wai.
The House
With four bedrooms (excluding the housekeepers' quarters), five bathrooms, a large central living/dining area, and 6 balconies overlooking the extensive gardens, the house can comfortably accommodate large groups (up to a maximum of 12).
It is centrally located, approximately equidistant from the island's two main boat piers, with convenient access to all of Koh Mak's best shops restaurants, resorts and beaches. Two of Koh Mak's best reviewed restaurants (one Thai, one Western food) as well as a well stocked mini-mart are literally a few paces from the end of our garden. The closest swimming beach (and great spot for sunset) is 250m away.
The house is extremely comfortable with air-conditioning throughout, a fully equipped kitchen (including microwave, toaster, nespresso coffee machine etc), smart tv, music systems and table football. There is a large pavillion (saalaa) in the garden and ample garden furniture.
There is reliable and fast internet with a strong wifi signal throughout the property.
Our resident housekeeper couple lovingly and tirelessly care for the property and garden, and are on hand to help guests make the most of their stay.
